ANAND BALAKRISHNAN

Anand Balakrishnan began his career as an associate to renowned cinematographer S. Kumar, ISC, gaining extensive experience alongside acclaimed filmmakers and skilled technicians across multiple Indian film industries.

He made his debut as an independent cinematographer with Sheelabathi, and went on to work on notable films including Oridathoru Postman and Melvilasam.

His work in Melvilasam earned widespread critical appreciation for its compelling visual storytelling. The film presented the unique challenge of unfolding an entire narrative within a single room transformed into a military courtroom, a challenge Anand met with remarkable cinematic precision. The film was screened at several prestigious film festivals and received critical acclaim for its distinctive visual treatment.

Beyond feature films, Anand has also cinematographed numerous documentaries and advertising films, showcasing his versatility across different visual mediums.

With a strong foundation in cinematography and years of collaboration with some of the industry's finest talents, Anand Balakrishnan now makes his directorial debut, bringing his distinctive visual sensibility and storytelling vision to the forefront.
